OBITUARY FROM THE WATERLOO DAILY COURIER, TUESDAY, 24 MARCH, 1953
CHARLES HENRY WALDON, 68, of South Hackett Road, Castle Hill, died at 12:30 AM Tuesday of carcinoma (pancreatic cancer). He had been ill for the past two years after retiring here from his farm near Austin (Dexter, Mower County) Minnesota. He was born October 8, 1884, in Ripley County, Indiana, the son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Headley) Waldon. In December, 1905, he married Jennie Dunlap in Dillsboro, Indiana. She died shortly after the couple moved here (Waterloo) in 1910.
On February 24, 1926, he married Mrs,. Frances (Rolfson) French at Independence, Iowa. Before moving to the Minnesota farm, Charles worked at the Galloway Company, John Deere and Construction Machinery plants in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his second wife, two children by his first marriage; Harley A. Waldon of 824 Prospect Blvd., Waterloo, and Miss Violet Waldon of Cincinnati, Ohio; two children by his second marriage; Gordon, a student at Iowa State Teachers College and James, a student at Iowa State university; and a stepson, Milo French, of 3107 Falls Avenue. Also surviving are five grandchildren.
The body may be seen after 10:00 AM, Wednesday, at Parrott & Wood funeral home in Waterloo.
