Biografi for: David James Gorseth

David Gorseth, 89, of Lennox, SD, died Saturday. March 25, 2017 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing, Viborg, SD.
David James Gorseth was born at Yankton, SD, on May 30, 1927, the son of Melvin E. and Ida L. (Schlaefli) Gorseth. He grew up in the Irene/ Viborg area graduated from Irene High School. He served in the US Army during WWII, from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1947.
On February 14, 1948 he married Ardis Simonsen at Viborg, SD.
The couple farmed in the Irene/Viborg area for 16 years and then moved into Viborg. They moved to Arlington, SD in 1969 and then Lennox in 1974. Dave became an agribusiness manager for Farmland Industries, Inc and Cargill, Inc. where he worked for over 25 years.
Ardis died on April 3, 2016.
David was an active member of First English Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a member of the Lennox American Legion and the Sioux Falls VFW. He had served on the Good Samaritan Advisory Board and the Lennox Cemetery Association Board. Dave enjoyed gardening, landscaping and reading.
Besides his wife and parents, David was preceded in death by three brothers: Melvin, Merton and Donald.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children: Marilyn (Ken) Thiessen, Rock Rapids, IA, Mary (Larry) Pedersen, Ridgefield, WA, Marcia (Pat) Meuth, Sparks, NV, Carol (Don) Clelland, Arlington, SD and Mark (Marlys) Gorseth, Omaha, NE; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister: Winifred McKay, San Antonio, TX, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
