Biografi for: Martin Lars Christensen

(Taken from the Oct 24, 1928 issue of the Viborg Enterprise).
Martin Christensen was born in Denmark September 15, 1862 and passed away October 20, 1928. He came to America with his parents August 4, 1871, his father homesteading in Turner County, South Dakota about 1873. This original home of his father finally became the property of Martin and was his home until the time of his death.
He married Augusta Anderson on November 3, 1898. To this union were born five sons and four daughters. The father of this happy family was the first to be called to lay down his life. These five sons, Ernest, Praben, Paul, Peter and Earl and daughters, Mrs. Albert Christensen, Mrs. Fred Holm, Mrs. Vincent Larsen and Mrs. Lars.
Simonson, are all residents of Turner county and rendered tender and loving service to their father in his last illness. Besides the wife and children, three brothers and two sisters mourn the loss of the loved one. These are Jacob Christensen of Atlantic, Iowa, Carl C. Christensen of Center Point, South Dakota, L. A. Christensen of
Center Point, South Dakota, Mrs. C. M. Peterson of Irene, South Dakota and Mrs. H. C. Christensen of Badger, South Dakota.
In the death of Mr. Christensen, the members of the community, in which he lived for about thirty years, have lost a real friend. To these who have lost in the hour of sorrow a loving and affectionate husband, and tender and kind father and a loyal brother, we extend our sincere sympathies, commending them to the care of God, who has invited us to cast on Him all our care.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, at the Baptist church, the S. D. A. choir singing beautiful sacred songs. Interment was made at the Rose Hill cemetery. Elder McNay officiated.
