Biografi for: Ardis A Simonsen

Ardis Gorseth, 88, of Lennox, SD, died Sunday, April 3, 2016, surrounded by her family, at the Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, having suffered a stroke on March 30, 2016.
Ardis Ardell Simonsen, was born on May 28, 1927, at Viborg, SD, the daughter of Lars and Mary A. (Christensen) Simonsen. She grew up there, attending school and graduating from Viborg High School in 1946.
On February 14, 1948 she married David Gorseth at Viborg, SD.
The couple farmed in the Irene/Viborg area for 16 years and then moved into Viborg. They moved to Arlington, SD in 1969 and then Lennox in 1974. Ardis began work selling popcorn at the Lund Theatre and then became a telephone operator while living in Viborg.
She served as a teacherís aid and later worked as a custodian in the Lennox School District. Ardis was a faithful member of First English Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies circle.
She enjoyed gardening, canning and collecting dolls. Most of all, Ardis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family. She especially loved greeting cards, photographs and attending her grandchildrenís birthday celebrations.
Besides her parents, Ardis was preceded in death by one brother, Arlin and one sister Verona and one grandson, Jacob David Wittmeier.
Grateful for having shared her life are her loving husband, David of 68 years; children: Marilyn (Ken) Thiessen, Rock Rapids, IA, Mary (Larry) Pedersen, Ridgefield, WA, Marcia (Pat) Meuth, Sparks, NV, Carol (Don) Clelland, Arlington, SD and Mark (Marlys) Gorseth, Omaha, NE; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister Janice Ramsley, Viborg as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
