Two Army L-5 observation planes, piloted by Capt. Robert Hagreen and Major Wallace G. Walton, took off from Hamilton Field today for Auburn, where search and rescue headquarters will be established.
Low visibility was reported over the Sierras, however, indicating that .the search may be delayid today, The newly organized search and rescue unit of the Metropolitan Oakland Chapter of the Aircraft Owners' and Pilots' Association also was preparing to join the hunt, but their planes were grounded because of weather.
