Dr. Paul E. Wallin Dr. Paul E. Wallin, 87, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland and formerly of Lancaster, died on Saturday at his home. Born in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Emil and Esther Wallin. He was the husband of the late Jane Oakes Wallin, who p receded him in death in 1991. Dr. Wallin practiced dentistry in Lancaster for over 30 years. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving first as a civilian attached to the USAAF in Africa at the beginning of WWII, helping to construct airfields; then served in the Merchant Marines for the duration of the war. Following WWII, he finished his undergraduate work at Penn State, and then graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. During the Korean War he served in the US Air Force. Dr. Wallin pioneered many significant programs to provide dental care to the handicapped and was recognized for his achievements by the Lancaster County Dental Society. Dr. Wallin served on the boards of United Cerebral Palsy and Schreiber Rehabilitation Center, where a resource room was named in his honor. Dr. Wallin also served on the local and state boards for Easter Seal Society. He was a former president of the Lancaster Dental Society; an honorary member of the staff at Lancaster General Hospital; and was a trustee and elder at Bethany Presbyterian Church. Dr. Wallin was an avid tennis player.
Surviving are two sons, Richard P., married to Dawn Wagner Wallin of Lancaster and David O., married to Christina Martin Wallin of Bellingham, WA; also, a daughter, Susan J. Wallin of Lititz and three grandchildren. Along with his wife, a granddaughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from Faith Calvery Church, 1501 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, with Pastor Barry Erb officiating. Intermentwill be in the Quarryville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00. In lieu fo flowers, contributions may be made in Dr. Wallin s memory to the Schreiber Pediatric Rehab. Center, 625 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603. Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services in Quarryville is assisting the family.
